AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS - As part of Element’s ongoing program of strategic capital expenditure, the material testing laboratories in Rotterdam, Sittard and Veendam have recently been relocated to new, state-of-the-art facilities and the Breda facility is currently undergoing a refurbishment and expansion, which will add a further 400 square meters of laboratory space.
“With the significant growth that our Benelux operations have experienced in recent years, it was time to take a fresh look at our facility requirements,” said Rick Sluiters, Element’s VP, European Operations. “The new facilities and accompanying investments in new testing equipment and capabilities ensure that Element maintains its leading position as the material testing and consulting partner of choice for the Oil and Gas sector in the Benelux.”
In addition to the relocation and refurbishment activities in the Netherlands, substantial investments have also been made in equipment across the Element European network. This includes the addition of new universal testing machines and impact testers in the Benelux for the mechanical testing of samples for welder and welding method qualifications. New scanning electron microscopes (SEM) have also been installed in Rotterdam and Beek to support client’s failure analysis and destructive testing requirements.
Additionally Element Aberdeen has significantly upgraded four of its CTOD frames and a 1200kN universal testing frame has been installed at Element Herne in Germany.
