LONDON, UK – October 27, 2015 – An industry-leading expert from Element Materials Technology will be showcasing the company’s leading-edge technical research on the delivery of highly sought-after gains in efficiency for the Aerospace sector at this month’s CAMX Composites and Advanced Materials Expo 2015 from October 26-29 in Dallas (US).
Element Engaged Expert Dr. Stefanos Giannis will deliver a technical research paper on composites in the sector. He will be outlining new applications of Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composite materials in the latest Aerospace industry designs.
Dr. Stefanos Giannis has worked in commercial and research and development (R&D) projects for almost a decade, delivering technical assignments in testing, damage tolerance and analysis of composite structures. He is currently leading UK Government- and EU-funded R&D projects and sub-projects alongside commercial qualification test programs for composites in Aerospace and Oil & Gas applications. He is also supporting ASTM D30 committee activities for delamination fracture standardization and relevant CMH-17 activities.
Rick Sluiters, Element’s Executive Vice President, Aerospace, comments: “Composites and advanced materials are delivering crucial advances within the Aerospace sector’s pursuit of ever-lighter and more fuel-efficient aircraft. The CAMX Show is an important opportunity to meet with our partners in the industry and we are delighted that Stefanos will be bringing his research to an audience of key stakeholders.
“We are continually investing in our global platform in the development of new capabilities within composites and advanced materials testing. Working in partnership with industry Primes and their supply chain partners at both R&D and production stages, our locations across Europe and the US are well-positioned to support clients in their challenges.”
Sponsored by industry organizations ACMA and SAMPE, CAMX brings together industry leaders in composites and advanced materials from across a range of sectors including Aerospace and Transportation.
The CAMX Show will take place in Dallas, Texas on October 26-29, with Stefanos presenting his paper, “A Testing and Analysis Building Block Approach for the Evaluation of the Performance of an Integrated Lattice Fuselage Section”, on the final morning at 10.30am.
